Those annoying robocalls we all receive are now being fined up to $10,000 per call under this new law.
Congress just approved a bill that could stop the flood of illegal calls. The Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence Act (TRACED) allows the government to go after these robocallers and could potentially fine them up to $10,000 per call. The bill is also requiring major carriers to deploy new tech called STIR/SHAKEN which will make it easier for consumers to know if they’re receiving calls from a spoofed number. The senate acted very quickly to pass this legislation to try and help the American people get real relief from these relentless and illegal calls.
