McDonald’s has announced a new initiative called “Apply Thru” where owners of Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant devices can begin job applications using standard voice commands. You can start the application and answer a few questions out loud but then they will receive a link via text to finish the application. This is a move in the direct McDonald’s wants to head as a hip, millennial-friendly brand. There are now less late night drive thru runs and more mobile app ordering.

McDonald’s has embraced the future of artificial intelligence, automation and on demand delivery. An example of this would be their massive partnership with Uber Eats where they experiment with drone delivery and working with DoorDash as well. The recent global rollout of the self order kiosks have been a huge success already. It is not clear that anyone wants to apply for a job using an AI voice assistant or the Snapchat app but McDonald’s figures it can’t hurt.
